What you practice - you remember.

Consider today - what are your daily habits and behaviors?

Do you get angry every time you come up to a red light?
Try a different response.
See the difference that it makes in your body when you respond in a different way.

Start small.  You have options.

January 7, 2020

Respond rather than react.

Catch yourself.

Notice your reactions to daily situations.

Be the quiet observer of your own life.

See what you notice.

Notice what you learn.

"You can't go back and change the beginning,
but you can start where you are and change the ending."

- C.S. Lewis

Begin again.

Every day is a new beginning.

A new opportunity.

Start where you are.

One foot in front of the other.

If you feel the fear - notice and acknowledge its presence - then send it on its way.

Keep moving forward.

You CAN do this.

You are stronger than you think.

You are.

You really are.

Believe this.

Believe.

I will not die an unlived life.
I will not live in fear
of falling or catching fire.
I choose to inhabit my days,
to allow my living to open me,
to make me less afraid,
more accessible,
to loosen my heart
until it becomes a wing,
a torch, a promise.
I choose to risk my significance
to live so that which came to me as seed
goes to the next as blossom,
and that which came to me as blossom,
goes on as fruit.

- Dawna Markova

"I found that my point of view was not unique.  In varying settings and under different forms, I discovered that many women and men, too, were grappling with essentially the same questions as I, and were hungry to discuss and argue and hammer out possible answers.  Even those whose lives had appeared to be ticking imperturbably under their smiling clock-faces, were often trying, like me, to evolve another rhythm with more creative pauses in it, more adjustment to their individual needs, and new and more alive relationships to themselves as well as others."

- Anne Morrow Lindbergh, 1955

"When we are very little, we learn how to feel about ourselves and about life by the reactions of the adults around us.  It is the way we learn what to think about ourselves and about our world.  Now, if you lived with people who were very unhappy, frightened, guilty, or angry, then you learned a lot of negative things about yourself and about your world.  "I never do anything right."  "It's my fault."  "If I get angry, I'm a bad person."  Beliefs like this create a frustrating life."

- Louise L. Hay, 1999

Word For The Day - Authenticity

We learn so many things throughout our life, but often, we find that we haven't learned how to be authentic.  As little children, we learn to walk and talk.  Run and play.  We learn to listen and talk when we raise our hand in school.  We learn the rules and sometimes - many times - the rules shut down our authenticity.  We lose our voice.  We lose our inner truth of who we are as an individual.  We don't listen to our truth.   Sometimes we cannot even hear our own truth.  We don't speak our truth. We don't live our truth.  So  for today, we choose the word "authenticity" as a focus word.  A word to examine and reconsider its meaning.  What does it mean to you?

Word For The Day - Explore

On this last day of January, we choose the word "explore".
May your day be filled with wonder as you explore the world today.

Perhaps your exploration path is short and to a place you go each day.

For many of us, that means our place of employment.

Today, may you see with different eyes and hear with different ears.

Eyes that look beyond what you typically see each and every day.

Ears that sense the emotion behind the words.

Perhaps you notice another person struggling.

Lend a hand.

Share a smile.

If you are the person facing challenges, may a kind soul cross your path today.
