The topic of "Insomnia" is one I am frequently asked about.  What's a person gonna do?  Most of us have experienced at least one episode of insomnia.  Tackling a sleep problem involves looking at the "big picture" of your day to day lifestyle.  


Key issues to look at initially:  


- use of caffeine (coffee, tea, soda, energy drinks, etc)

- amount of daily screen time 

     (cell phone, tablets, television, video games)

- level of daily stress

- prescription medications 

   (some have the side effect of RLS (Restless Legs Syndrome)

- sleep apnea

- snoring (yours, your partner and/or the dog)


An effective relaxation technique that is receiving wide attention, is Yoga Nidra - a sleep based meditation that helps calm the nervous system.
