Mindfulness & Grief Class

Compassionate Self-Care for Mind, Body and Spirit

Monday April 22, 2019

6:30 PM to 8:30 PM

Dealing with loss is never easy. Trying to cope without compassionate support can be debilitating, but self-care is also of crucial importance. Our mindfulness-based grief class will focus on the different aspects of the grief experience and introduce you to loving self-kindness. You will gain insight into the physical, emotional and spiritual experience of grief. We will examine ways to cope with intense emotions and how to move forward with loving memory of the person who has died. The evening will conclude with a group experiential healing grief meditation.

*You will also receive our Clarity Self-Care packet of resources.

**Participants also have the option to attend a follow-up Mindfulness Grief Support Group for 3 weeks at no additional charge.

Speaker: Gilda (Jill) Cook is a Certified Provider of Compassionate Bereavement Care and has been an RN for over thirty years. She received her Grief/Bereavement training through the Center for Loss and Trauma in partnership with the MISS Foundation and the Elisabeth Kubler-Ross Family Trust.

Ms. Cook adheres to the ATTEND model - a mindful and evidence-based, culturally sensitive paradigm for compassionate care to the traumatically bereaved which does not pathologize grief (Thielman & Cacciatore, 2013). This model has been shown to reduce depressive, anxious and trauma symptomatology in both clients and clinicians.
